Agroecology and gastronomy are linked through a holistic approach to food systems that views food from production to consumption. Agroecology provides a sustainable, ecologically sound basis for food, while gastronomy explores the cultural, social and culinary aspects of food appreciation. It [...]

Since October 2025, as part of the „Rebooting the Food System” project, we have been implementing educational workshops for students of technical and trade schools from Krakow, Wieliczka, Myślenice and Tarnów. The classes introduce agroecology in the context of the history of agriculture and settlement - from the revolution [...]

The definition of agroecology states that it is agricultural ecology, the science that studies the interdependence of living organisms of agricultural fields and how these interdependencies are affected by habitat changes due to land reclamation, agro-ecology, industrial emissions and municipal contamination. However, for us, agroecology is more than [...]

It is with undisguised joy that we begin the new school year and launch Phase II of the „Rebooting the Food System” project. This is an educational component aimed at students of catering schools in Krakow and surrounding cities. Our goal is to combine theoretical knowledge with practice. [...]

Open Plan. Air!

We love Krakow. It's a city where you live comfortably and can't get bored. The center of culture, a gem of architecture, beautifully located on the river - the city of kings. Who has visited it - wants to return here. Who came for a long time - wants to live here permanently. However, there is one BUT - air quality. Krakow is breaking infamous records - according to a 2013 report by the European Environment Agency, it ranks 3rd in Europe in terms of the scale of air pollution. Clean air is essential for our well-being and health, and after all, each and every one of us wants to feel good where we live. We want to breathe fresh air, and by acting together and consistently we can reduce air pollution. Here we report on air protection activities, initiatives and campaigns. Not only in Krakow.

Open Plan. By bike!

Most urban space is dominated by automobile traffic. We don't mind cars as long as they don't „take over” the city in the form of increasing traffic jams and clogged streets and sidewalks. Car exhaust also accounts for approx. 1/3 of the total air pollution in a city like Krakow. We focus on developing sustainable transportation - friendly to us, our pockets and nature. We treat the bicycle here literally and symbolically - we want the development of bicycle infrastructure and freedom and safety in moving around the city. You can read about cycling news at I bike Krakow, which is run by Gosia and Marcin from our team. Here we write about various interesting solutions and initiatives in the field of sustainable transport, including public transport.

Open Plan. Local!

Decisions about our quality of life do not have to be made from the top down. As citizens, we have the capacity, skills and tools to participate and create laws and policies that affect us. We focus on the development of urban and rural communities in areas such as energy sources, local food production and consumption, co-creation of public spaces, environmental protection, development of entrepreneurship, social economy and green economy. We also want to develop the idea of a smart city as a city that is friendly to people and nature, in which economic, public and individual interests find a balance and work to improve the quality of life. Without the activity and involvement of citizens who are aware of their rights and responsibilities - that is, us - such development is not possible. Here we write about local development in urban and rural areas in the broadest sense.

Open Plan. Green!

We dream of a green city, where nature has its place, is respected and protected by residents and local authorities. Greenery in the city has many functions - from improving air and local climatic conditions, space aesthetics, to preserving valuable undeveloped areas for recreation and leisure. The fight of Cracovians to preserve the nature of Zakrzówek and to create a city park on its territory, safe and accessible to all, showed how important our - citizens - participation in the protection of such valuable places is. But greenery in the city is not only parks - it is gardens, squares, flower beds, green walls and corridors, neighborhood greenery. It is our balconies and green roofs of buildings. Here we write about projects, ideas and inspirations, from our Krakow, as well as the world's backyards.
